Project Information:

The Poverty and Equity Global Practice together with the Social Development Team of the World Bank and Center for Strategic Development initiated the Listening to the Citizens of Uzbekistan survey to assess the dynamics of household welfare in Uzbekistan. Uzbekistan embarked on significant economic reforms that affected most citizens. The potential benefits of reform were large, but the process was challenging, and there were adjustment costs for some at-risk groups. The Government prioritized dialogue with citizens to better understand the main concerns of the population and the social impacts of the reform process. The L2CU initiative was one component of the World Bank’s support of the objective. L2CU integrated multiple approaches to monitor the well-being of households over time, with a focus on challenges relating to the reform agenda. It also included mechanisms for public consultations on the results of the monitoring.
